Mississippi Fishing report Let's Go Fishing!!! 2-22-12 Just a lil reminder that we still here an waiting on you to, GET ON THE BOAT:). Like to wish you all a safe and prosperous 2012. Just like to give everyone a lil heads up on what's going on around here in South Ms. an aboard the WhipaSnapa. (loaded and ready as always) Jan, and Feb., we really focus on the Bay, a steady bite on sheepsheads for sure! Some really nice tally's an some really big trophy sheeps have been hitting the deck of the ol Snapa!!! With a few red and black drum a few flounder, an trout on occasion. The mild weather an good supply of live shrimp have made a great start on the 2012 WhipaSnapa adventures. March we will start getting out to the Islands for the big red and black drum, prowling the shallows, as the Big Sheeps move out to spawn. Also, a good time to catch some really nice trout. The ground mullet and white trout will start hitting the reefs as well. The well anticipated annual Cobia migration also starts March, April and May which you all know that's what really excites this ol Capt!! likee!! Can't wait to get out yonder to the rigs an get that :) on too. Already taking bookings for the June - July Red Snapper season. Red Snapper improving says NOAA report
A new report released by NOAA says red snapper remains in the "overfished" category in the Gulf of Mexico. But the report says the numbers of snapper are improving and it could be removed from that designation very soon. Red snapper are among the most sought-after fish in the gulf. Current recreational limits in Mississippi are two fish per person with a 16 inch minimum size.
